Verdict
Hands-on MICE expertise with tailor-made services.
Prudence Lui

With only a handful of chain hotels in Kaohsiung, Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung stands out strong, offering advantages such as consistent MICE service and product quality.

Instead of checking in at the ground floor, guests can experience a more relaxed and personalised service at the cozy Rosewood Reception on the fifth floor.

Guestrooms
Opened 13 years ago, the property is being refurbished. Last year, all rooms were equipped with flat screen TVs. Each room is spacious with an artistic flair and décor conveying local tribal culture.

Meeting facilities
All MICE facilities are on the fourth, sixth and seventh floors.

The five meeting rooms on the seventh floor are suitable for small groups of between 25 and 90 people. If groups are looking to host a medium-sized event for between 180 and 400 people, the multi-purpose function rooms at Unicorn Hall (sixth floor), Peony Room (fourth floor) and Dragon Hall (seventh floor) can be customised to guests’ requirements. Moreover, mega events can be held in the Banquet Hall on the fourth floor, which is equipped with a professional conference facility with a capacity for 400 to 600 people.

Another plus is Moon River Bar on the 30th floor, which commands an unobstructed view of west and east Kaohsiung city. This venue has the potential to be turned into a banquet function with a maximum capacity of eight tables or an 80-seat theatre setup.

With a team of eight dedicated staff for MICE, the hotel strives to deliver tailor-made and reliable services to clients.

F&B
The hotel is home to six restaurants catering to different tastes and budgets. The choice ranges from delicatessen and Cantonese cuisine, to European food and Shanghainese. Yangtse River restaurant is popular in town, given the lack of such high-end Shanghainese cuisine within the city hotels.

Wi-fi service is available for free in public areas such as the lobby and restaurants but connection in guestrooms and meeting rooms requires a fee.
