Since 2013, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) has been implementing sustainability efforts.

Committed to environmental responsibility while actively supporting the surrounding community, BNDCC prioritises eco-friendliness through various programmes aimed at minimising its carbon footprint and promoting a greener future.

These include energy-saving measures in lighting systems, water conservation via graywater reuse and efficient fixtures, sustainable food management with locally sourced ingredients, comprehensive waste management including recycling, reduction, and reuse across all operations.

Nature at its doorstep

BNDCC integrates sustainability efforts with the surrounding environment

At an expansive 45,000m² and surrounded by lush forest, BNDCC’s has integrated nature and sustainability. Its grounds are home to a diverse collection of tropical plant species, native flora to complement the local ecosystem, as part of efforts to support biodiversity and promote environmental health.

Optimising energy efficiency through design

The building is thoughtfully designed to maximise natural light

BNDCC’s architectural design reflects a strong commitment to environmental efficiency. The building is thoughtfully structured to maximise natural light, which significantly reduces the need for artificial lighting during daytime hours.

The building has a double skin façade that maintains comfortable indoor temperatures, while lowering reliance on energy-intensive cooling systems. Complemented by high-performance LED lighting and energy-efficient operations, these elements collectively support BNDCC’s goal of minimising carbon footprint and creating a more sustainable built environment.

BNDCC also supports sustainable mobility by using Electric Vehicles (EV) as part of its operations and providing accessible EV charging stations and rentable electric bicycles for guests.

Where flavour meets sustainability

BNDCC’s sustainability ethos also extends to its dining practices. Guests can indulge in delicious, locally-sourced cuisine, crafted with fresh, seasonal ingredients that highlight the best of Bali’s produce, while supporting the community.

The venue’s dedication to reducing food waste goes beyond the kitchen, by donating leftover food to those in need through a non-profit food rescue organisation.

Conserving every drop and minimising impact

BNDCC reduces single use plastic bottles, minimises linen use, and has a robust recycling programme to reduce its impact

BNDCC employs several practical solutions to minimise its environmental impact.

It conserves and reduces water usage by using water dispensers, glass bottles, and poured water instead of single-use plastics, while leftover water from events is repurposed for garden irrigation.

Touchless infrared sensor faucets help prevent excess use, while its reverse osmosis water treatment system operates with lower energy consumption than traditional thermal methods.

The venue also promotes reduced linen usage to minimise unnecessary laundering and conserve fresh water, reduce chemical consumption and lower electricity usage.

In addition, it implements a robust waste management programme. Garden waste is composted, organic waste is repurposed as livestock feed for local farms, and kitchen production waste is turned into eco-enzymes. Used coffee grounds and tea leaves are reused as natural soil fertilisers.

To reduce reliance on paper and plastic, BNDCC uses digital signage and provides separate bins for paper, organic, and inorganic waste.
