Organised by Constellar and Deutsche Messe, the Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) will return to Singapore Expo from October 18-20, 2023.

The three-day event will focus on new trends and solutions in advanced manufacturing, and spotlight innovations in Green Factory solutions that will help the manufacturing industry reduce carbon emissions on its journey to Net Zero. It will also feature new developments in Intelligent Machine Tools & Engineered Parts that are integrated with the latest AI technology and designed to improve productivity through process automation.

These two new pillars are part of the event’s six key exhibitor profiles, which include Additive Manufacturing, Digitalisation, Industrial Automation and Smart Logistics & Supply Chain.

Delegates and trade visitors can enjoy guided tours highlighting the latest advanced manufacturing innovations, as well as expanded opportunities for networking and discovery through engagements such as the International Connect Platform, facilitated business matching sessions, and an innovation stage that will be the launching pad for more than 20 new products.

ITAP 2023 will also host the Industrial Transformation Forum featuring global business leaders in key industry sectors. Across two conference days, key topics across Sustainability, Optimising Manufacturing Efficiency and Supply Chain Resilience will be addressed.

The Future of Manufacturing Summit (FoM) & Roundtable will also return at ITAP 2023 to support industry efforts in encouraging greater receptivity and adoption of Industry 4.0.

Last year’s ITAP was the first fully-physical edition post-lockdown, attracting over 15,000 visitors from 76 countries and regions with more than 35 per cent of its attendees being C-level executives and key decision-makers.

This year, ITAP will host more than 300 exhibitors and over 18,000 attendees across 20,000m2 at the Singapore Expo.

Leading up to the main event in October, Constellar will be hosting ITAP 2023 engagements in key sectors around the region – Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia – where Industry 4.0 adoption will be pivotal to accelerating economic growth.

Melbourne has secured the hosting rights for the inaugural Asia Pacific (APAC) Offshore Wind and Green Hydrogen Summit 2023, the first of its kind to be held in the region.

More than 1,000 delegates are expected to attend, including key global renewable energies bodies, Asia Pacific Governments, and global stakeholders such as the International Renewable Energy Agency, the World Bank Group (WBG), and Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA).

The WBG will bring key decision-makers from governments around the world, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Columbia, Brazil and others. GOWA will also host a high-level roundtable featuring APAC members during the event, with a focus on strengthening Offshore Wind and Green Hydrogen collaboration in the region.

The three-day summit and exhibition is open to the public, and will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in August 2023.

The successful bid was led by the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), with active involvement from the Victorian Government Department of Energy Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and Global Victoria. It will provide an opportunity to showcase Victoria’s reputation as a leader in the energy and resources sector, and demonstrate the Victorian Government’s commitment to transitioning to a clean energy future.

Victoria was one of the first in the world to legislate a net-zero emissions target by 2050 and the state is decarbonising at the most rapid rate of any major jurisdiction in Australia. Through Victoria’s Climate Change Strategy, the Victorian Government has set ambitious, but achievable targets to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 levels by 28 to 33 per cent by 2025 and 45 to 50 per cent by 2030.

MCB’s CEO Julia Swanson said securing this event highlights the role business events play in supporting Victoria’s commitment to sustainability. MCB’s Sustainability Strategy actively seeks the acquisition of business events aligned with Victorian Government priorities.

The APAC Offshore Wind and Green Hydrogen Summit 2023 is organised by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), an international association and event owner that represents more than 90 per cent of global installed wind power capacity, including leading turbine manufacturers, developers, suppliers, and service providers.

Stewart Mullin, GWEC COO said there is so much momentum in the offshore wind and green hydrogen space in APAC, and Australia has shown a great commitment to drive the industry in the region.

“When we were looking for the best place to hold our inaugural conference Victoria won hands down. The industry is buzzing with potential from the Offshore Wind Feasibility Licence that is currently open for the Gippsland region, and the Victorian Government has really led the way in attracting interest from developers, component manufacturers and the greater renewables value chain.

CWT’s M&E carbon calculator enables organisations to operationalise a transparent and measurable solution

CWT has launched a new meetings and events (M&E) carbon footprint calculator which combines travel, hotel stays, meeting spaces, and F&B carbon consumption information for corporate events.

The CWT M&E carbon calculator analyses and reports on individual and collective delegate carbon emission and waste data for the entire event lifecycle, from planning to completion. It also maps emission data against each individual customer’s own carbon benchmarks for current and future events.

The calculator’s reporting signposts specific event elements where more optimal sustainable solutions could and should be sought – be that event destination, transportation, accommodation and venues, F&B, material, and/or waste management.

It is aimed at audiences of 200, and up to 50,000.

This latest service is supported by carbon intelligence platform, Thrust Carbon, with whom CWT launched flight, hotel and car hire point-of-sale carbon indicators last year. This carbon calculator launch follows an intensive six-month pilot programme, where CWT tested the tool on its own events, and select customer events.

“This year, in-person meetings have outstripped virtual and hybrid events by ten to one. With nearly all of our M&E customers and prospects citing ambitious long-term corporate sustainability goals for their organisations – whether they run ongoing strategic meetings management programmes or individual large-scale events – we are helping them realize their carbon-emissions reduction strategies,” said Ian Cummings, global head at CWT M&E.

Effective collaboration

Universal Holidays Travel & Tourism was established 13 years ago in Kuala Lumpur as a DMC which specialised mainly in inbound incentives from the Indian subcontinent and Middle East markets.

As time progressed, the company diversified its offerings to also include conference organising and corporate event planning services such as product launches and award ceremonies.

Zahira (front row, centre) and her team

Founder and CEO, Zahira Tahir, shared that in early 2020, the company had a head count of 30 staff. However, the closure of international borders, as well as restrictions imposed on domestic travel, resulted in heavy retrenchments then.

But after Malaysia reopened her borders last year, Zahira started rehiring, with priority given to those who had been retrenched. In 2022, Zahira also opened sales representation offices in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and India.

This year will see more new hires in the main office in Kuala Lumpur, as Zahira is confident that corporate business events will pick up this year, in particular from the Middle East, India and Pakistan.

To keep her staff highly motivated, Zahira rewards them with monetary incentives and organises annual company trips.

This year, Universal Holidays is planning a 4D3N company trip to Bali in November which will also include her staff based overseas.

“This will be the perfect opportunity for the overseas team to meet their Malaysian colleagues for the first time and get to know each another better. All this while, the overseas team has been communicating with the Malaysian team electronically,” Zahira shared.

Zahira also inculcates a sense of belonging by practising an open-door policy, and allowing staff to make decisions and practices. There are also regular brainstorming sessions in and outside the office where fresh ideas can be introduced and dissected without judgement.

She said: “We have a conducive work environment where I encourage everyone to offer new perspectives and explore out-of-the-box concepts.”

The Golo Mori convention facility in Golo Mori Village in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, has been completed, in time for the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023 which will happen from May 9-11, 2023.

The building comprises a convention hall and VVIP lobby that can hold up to 400 people, a VVIP lounge for 29 people, a VIP room with a capacity of 12 people, an amphitheatre with 500 seats, and a media centre for 50 people. In addition to business events facilities, there is also an observation deck, beach club, and wooden pier.

Built by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the Golo Mori convention facility is part of an integrated sustainable tourism resort that will include hotels, a Komodo dragon research and education centre, an adventure tourism site, as well as a tourist port. It faces Rinca Island, home to the famous Komodo dragons.

Ari Respati, ITDC’s president director, declared that Golo Mori is now open, and “ready to host business events”. He added: “We are optimistic that this area will become a leading tourism destination which will contribute to Eastern Indonesia’s economic development.”

Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia’s minister of tourism and creative economy, added: “Preparations for the 2023 ASEAN Summit are in the final stages and are being finalised.”

He pointed out that during this period, tourists should expect price hikes due to the Summit and the side events in Labuan Bajo, and most accommodations would be fully booked.

Even as Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia returns to its Macau homeground this July, the Singapore Special Edition convened last August amid the pandemic is being retained.

Slated to be held at Sands Expo and Convention Centre from May 30 to June 1, 2023, organiser RX will be differentiating between the two events. The Singapore Special Edition will be for gaming professionals to network and conduct business, and the content will focus on gaming.

Meanwhile, the Macau edition will comprise the newly-launched Asian IR Expo, alongside G2E Asia. The focus will be on integrated resorts, and tourism and entertainment products beyond gaming. It will be held at the Venetian Macao from July 11-13, 2023, and leaders and decision-makers from leading integrated resorts in Asia are expected to attend.

Outlining its strategy and plans to TTGmice, RX said that the Asian IR Expo will be an invaluable platform to drive business diversification, and obtain expert insights on Macau’s latest economic development.

“The running of the Singapore and Macau events could perfectly serve the needs of gaming and non-gaming sectors in Asia,” said an RX spokesperson. “The Singapore event in May falls nicely in the global ‘gaming event calendar’, and allows our customers to go back to their normal routine of attending major global gaming events.”

G2E Asia 2022 in Singapore drew almost 4,800 trade visitors. Among the 63 per cent from overseas, many were from Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

One of the exhibitors, Interblock, told TTGmice that he was pleased with the quality of attendees. Its president, Michael Hu, said: “G2E Asia helped to drive our business further forward in the region – a valuable opportunity to show our strong array of games and full portfolio of electronic games and systems solutions.”
