Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) has launched a Conference Ambassador Programme, a joint initiative with the Maharashtra Convention Bureau (MCB) and International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) to bid for and secure major international business events for Mumbai.
The voluntary programme invites Indian association leaders and industry experts to serve as bid champions. While ambassadors leverage their professional networks and subject expertise, JWCC will handle end-to-end bidding operations, relationship management, and international marketing.
To lower financial barriers, selected ambassadors will gain access to a Conference Ambassador Grant to cover eligible expenses, including bid preparation, international travel, site inspections, and pitch coaching.
The initiative leverages recent momentum in local infrastructure and state-level backing. MCB – India’s first state-led convention bureau – was announced at IMEX Frankfurt 2025, while ICCA joins as the knowledge partner to provide strategic global access.
India’s standing in the international meeting market has risen in recent years, climbing from 37th in the ICCA global rankings in 2022 to 26th in 2025.
“Winning these events creates platforms for knowledge exchange, professional collaboration, and innovation, while generating wider economic value across sectors,” said Sanjay Khandare, additional chief secretary of tourism, Government of Maharashtra.
JWCC has built a pipeline of upcoming global gatherings for Mumbai, including the International Congress on Occupational Health (2027), FDI World Dental Congress (2027), IDF World Dairy Summit (2027), Urological Association of Asia Congress (2028), World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology Congress (2029), World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (2030), and 50th SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress (2030).
The programme is now accepting applications from active association members and industry professionals based in India. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to lead prospective bids and engage international stakeholders.
