New Zealand International Convention Centre, Auckland

Flooded with natural light and anchored in Indigenous Aotearoa design, the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) offers an intuitive, state-of-the-art environment built for effortless networking and large-scale global summits

Concept
After years of anticipation, NZICC opened in February 2026 as New Zealand’s flagship purpose-built convention venue.

Located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD, it is the country’s only venue with official International Convention Centre status, and has been designed as a vertically stacked facility that integrates with the surrounding city rather than standing apart from it.

Inspired by Tāne’s realm, the Māori domain of forests and birds, the building features open, light-filled interiors, large-scale public artworks, and cultural narratives woven throughout its architecture and naming. A public laneway and airbridge connect the venue with the wider SkyCity precinct, while more than 8,000 hotel rooms, restaurants, entertainment venues and shopping are within walking distance.

MICE application
NZICC offers 32,500m2 of event space across four levels with 33 meeting rooms catering for groups from around 20 delegates through to major international conventions.

The venue’s centrepiece is Ariki Hall, which accommodates up to 4,500 guests, and can also host exhibitions with up to 400 standard exhibition booths. Dedicated truck access and two nine-tonne truck lifts simplify move-in and move-out for large exhibitions.

Te Paepae Theatre seats 2,852 delegates and can be divided into two separate theatres or configured with retractable seating and a flat floor for banquets and special events. The venue also includes Te Wharau, a light-filled pre-function and event space with floor-to-ceiling windows; and Te Waha, an event space overlooking Auckland Harbour and the Waitākere Ranges that is designed for networking events, dining functions and receptions.

NZICC has also been designed with delegate flow in mind, allowing quick movement between meeting rooms, exhibition areas, theatres and banquet spaces. Built-in AV technology, quiet spaces for neurodiverse guests, venue-wide Wi-Fi 6E/7 connectivity and on-site parking for more than 1,300 vehicles add to its appeal for international conferences and exhibitions.

Food is another point of difference, with menus centred on seasonal New Zealand produce sourced from local suppliers, reflecting the venue’s emphasis on sustainability and local identity.

Service
NZICC sets a new global benchmark for event venues, pairing unmatched spatial flexibility with cutting-edge technology and authentic Kiwi hospitality.
