The Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to use the business events sector to attract investment and support economic development across Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

The agreement will see the two organisations work together to promote the EEC as a destination for international business events, while strengthening local businesses and communities across the region’s three provinces.

The partnership also aims to support investment in the EEC’s priority sectors, including comprehensive medical services, digital industries, modern automotive, the bio-circular-green economy and services.

Under the agreement, EECO and TCEB will promote business events as a platform for investment, networking, innovation and knowledge exchange. Planned initiatives include conferences, exhibitions, business matching programmes, industrial site visits and networking events.

The collaboration will also support the development of local products and services, particularly those meeting EEC Select standards, through training, capability-building and market access initiatives designed to create additional income opportunities for local communities.

TCEB will implement three flagship programmes under the partnership: the Empower Eastern Exhibition project to promote exhibitions and business activities in target industries; EEC MICE Product Premium project to enhance products, services and community enterprises; and EEC MICE Cluster Destination project to strengthen marketing, partnerships and international standards for venues, events and destinations.

“The signing of this MoU with TCEB represents an important collaboration between the two organisations to create opportunities and encourage MICE operators from both Thailand and abroad to establish and expand operations in the EEC,” said Chula Sukmanop, secretary-general of EECO.
