Brisbane has secured the hosting rights for the International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Gas (LNG2029), the world’s largest LNG event.
The conference, which was officially announced to the global energy community in Doha, Qatar, is expected to draw more than 4,200 international energy leaders, innovators, and policymakers from over 80 countries. It will take place at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The successful bid was led by the Australian Gas Industry Trust and Australian Energy Producers, in partnership with state and national tourism and economic agencies. Decision-makers credited Brisbane’s proximity to East Asia, world-class facilities, and growing global visibility ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games for the win.
Queensland is a primary hub for Australia’s LNG export industry, supplying key Asian markets and supporting regional energy infrastructure.
Queensland minister for tourism Andrew Powell noted the event’s significant economic impact. “LNG2029 is set to deliver huge benefits for our state, injecting up to A$19 million (US$13.3 million) into our economy and generating more than 16,800 visitor nights.
“With thousands of people from more than 80 countries attending the event this is another opportunity for Queensland to shine on the world stage while bringing more business to the local operators and small businesses that keep our tourism industry going. We secured this event through TEQ’s Business Events Acquisition and Leveraging Fund because the Crisafulli Government is committed to attracting major events that create jobs and show off everything Queensland has to offer.”
