QT Gold Coast

Positioned just a 10-minute walk from the heart of Surfers Paradise, this 297-key, five-star designer property delivers a wonderfully executed stay where funky, ocean-inspired aesthetics meet high-volume corporate capability without losing its coastal charm

Rooms
I was hosted in a QT Deluxe Ocean View King on the 20th floor. Stepping inside, I was immediately awed by the unblocked sea views and the sound of waves crashing in the distance. Taking it all in as the sun slowly rose the next morning, it became instantly clear why this stretch is called the Gold Coast.

The space strikes a balance between functionality and playfulness, featuring generous luggage storage, large coat racks, the brand’s kaleidoscope Missoni signature robes, and a fully stocked minibar. Work functionality was well catered for with a table paired with proper seating, while the sea-view balcony equipped with two chairs provided a front-row seat to the coastline.

The king-size bed proved exceptionally comfortable with four plush pillows, and effective blackout curtains kept early sunrise glare at bay. A welcome touch for usability: clear lighting controls rather than confusing master switches. With the cool coastal breeze and nightly temperatures dipping into single digits negating any need for air-conditioning during the Gold Coast’s winter, the gentle, constant rhythm of crashing waves served as my natural lullaby each night.

MICE facilities
QT Gold Coast features a versatile portfolio of 14 indoor and outdoor event spaces catering to everything from intimate executive strategy sessions to large-scale conferences and open-air receptions.

The property’s flagship venue is the QT Ballroom, a 598m² pillarless space capable of hosting up to 630 guests in a cocktail set-up or 350 for seated banquets. Adding to its convenience for large delegations, it features its own separate dedicated entrance and foyer.

Complementing the ballroom, planners can tap into an array of flexible indoor function rooms on the second floor for workshops and breakout sessions (hosting between 30 and 100 pax), and private dining buyouts at Stingray Lounge (up to 400 pax), Bazaar Restaurant (up to 300 pax), or Yamagen Japanese Restaurant (up to 200 pax).

My favourite outdoor venue was the al fresco qtQT Rooftop, comprising The Firepit, The Lawn, and The Landing. The space offers breezy ocean views, suitable for up to 100 guests on The Landing or up to 300 guests across all three zones combined. Adjacent to the rooftop are six luxury qtQT Cabins, all of which can be booked out for exclusive access to The Firepit and The Lawn.

Other facilities
Delegates can relax at the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, complete with a lively pool bar, loungers, and retro-chic cabanas. For wellness and rejuvenation, the on-site spaQ offers a range of tailored massages, facial therapies, and body treatments. Fitness-minded guests can make use of the fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym, while outdoor amenities like tennis courts and complimentary bicycle rentals offer active ways to explore the surrounding neighbourhood.

Service
Service throughout the stay was top-notch, delivered with genuine warmth and playful flair. What impressed me most operationally was the resort’s clever spatial segregation. Despite several corporate delegations using the dedicated ballroom spaces and privately booking out Stingray Lounge during my stay, the property remained remarkably quiet for regular hotel guests, running with zero disruption to the overall flow.

In-room welcome touches were equally memorable, featuring sweet treats, such as rose and orange shortbread, crafted by the hotel’s talented pastry team. But the piece de resistance was a smashable chocolate sugar snow globe that revealed a QR code linking directly to the hotel’s custom Spotify playlist – a clever, creative gesture that set the tone for the stay.

Verdict
Located far enough from the core noise of Surfers Paradise to offer a peaceful retreat, yet close enough for a quick stroll or tram ride towards Pacific Fair (and now Burleigh Heads), QT Gold Coast proves that serious corporate capability and relaxed coastal play can comfortably coexist under one roof.
