For four days in August, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) took on a different form, transforming its exhibition spaces into a large-scale indoor sporting arena for BYD HYROX Bangkok.
HYROX’s second event in Bangkok this year and its largest-ever race in Asia took place from August 13 to 16, bringing together athletes and spectators from Thailand and around the world.
The turnout underscored Bangkok’s growing appeal as an international sports and lifestyle destination, while the event demonstrated how QSNCC can adapt its spaces and capabilities to support new and diverse event formats.
Why Bangkok, why QSNCC
Traditionally known for Muay Thai, martial arts, marathons and other major sporting events, Bangkok can now add HYROX to the list.
The city’s dynamic lifestyle, vibrant energy and global tourism appeal made it a compelling destination for international participants and were key factors in HYROX returning to Bangkok.

Located in central Bangkok, QSNCC spans a total area of 300,000m², combining flexible event spaces with retail and food & beverage options.
For an indoor race of this scale, the venue needed to accommodate large crowds while supporting the experience around it. QSNCC ticked all the right boxes, with its direct MRT access and flexible event spaces.
As Gary Wan, managing director of HYROX APAC, explained: “As we operate indoors, we need to identify the most exciting and epic venues in the world.”
“We are continuing to grow our spectator experience. QSNCC is an incredible venue right in the city centre,” he said, adding that partnering with a venue that shared the same vision was mutually beneficial.
QSNCC on delivering world-class event experiences
QSNCC demonstrated its ability to adapt its spaces and support an event of this scale. Over four days, HYROX brought in race equipment and set up across four exhibition halls.
“Hosting BYD HYROX Bangkok demonstrated QSNCC’s ability to transform its spaces to accommodate large-scale international sporting experiences. The event brought together athletes and audiences from around the world and highlighted how a convention centre can serve as a platform not only for business events, but also for sports, lifestyle and community experiences,” said Surapol Utintu, chief executive officer of QSNCC.
The event created a high-energy atmosphere, bringing athletes together, as well as a large community of supporters and spectators, while recovery zones, games and entertainment, merchandise and F&B extended the experience beyond the race.
Outside the halls, visitors could also enjoy QSNCC’s range of retail and dining options, while its location next to Benjakitti Park offered an additional space to relax before or after the event.
Hosting the race demonstrated QSNCC’s versatility and ability to support international events. HYROX showed that a convention venue can be more than a place to host an event — it can become a destination where sports, lifestyle and experiences come together.
