RWS bets big on venue adaptability

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) recently upgraded its ballrooms with scalable layouts and integrated digital screens, a move driven by a market where layout flexibility has become more important than room capacity.

“Business events today are layered and sophisticated,” said Jenny Wang, senior vice president of resort sales & marketing at RWS, explaining that modern conferences now serve as platforms for collaboration and relationship-building rather than mere information-sharing.

The objective of the enhancement, Wang noted, is “to give organisers greater flexibility to deliver complex programmes within a single venue, allowing them to focus on attendee engagement and business outcomes rather than venue limitations”.

This focus on adaptability reflects a broader regional trend, as large corporate events in South-east Asia increasingly turn to integrated resorts to avoid the high costs and logistical headaches of moving thousands of attendees between scattered venues.

Wang pointed out that when key event components like accommodation, dining and meetings are spread out, organisers need to coordinate transport, manage multiple vendors and build additional buffer time into the programme. Opting for a single ecosystem instead allows delegates to move easily between sessions “without spending large portions of the day in transit”.

Staying within an integrated resort also allows organisers to easily weave major entertainment, sporting and lifestyle elements into corporate itineraries without multi-vendor headaches.

Wang described how recent multi-day events like the ASUS Enterprise Summit, Global Expansion Summit, and Singapore Smash 2026, which successfully blended formal business agendas with resort-wide fan experiences and gala dinners. Consumer brand partnerships, such as Pop Mart’s immersive Crybaby installation at the Singapore Oceanarium, further demonstrate how globally recognised intellectual property is being woven into the delegate journey.

“The model is not about convenience,” Wang said. “It is about creating environments where meetings, networking, hospitality and memorable experiences work together seamlessly.”
