Melbourne has secured the inaugural Money20/20 Australia, bringing the global fintech exhibition and conference to the country for the first time in February 2028.

The event is expected to draw thousands of financial decision-makers, technology firms, and startups to Victoria. The state’s fintech sector currently supports over 10,000 jobs nationally and hosts major brands including Up Bank, Judo Bank, and MYOB.

Money20/20 Australia joins Melbourne’s business calendar alongside Intersekt, which will draw over 1,000 delegates, and the inaugural Australian Data Center World and AI Summit, set to draw over 800 delegates to the city this September.

FinTech Australia CEO Rehan D’Almeida noted that with the right commercial and policy settings, Australia has the potential to build a A$37 billion fintech industry over the next decade, adding that Money20/20 will help shine a global spotlight on local innovators.

“Australia and New Zealand have built one of the world’s most advanced fintech ecosystems, and Money20/20 ANZ will showcase this innovation powerhouse to the world,” said Tracey Davies, president of Money20/20. “We’re bringing together the region’s brightest innovators, leading institutions, forward-thinking investors, and visionary policymakers with our global community of decision-makers.”
