SACEOS announces 47th Executive Committee

SACEOS 47th Executive Committee

The Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) has elected its 47th Executive Committee (EXCO) for the 2026–2027 term, with Richard Ireland returning as president.

The new committee spans event organisers, venues, suppliers, and educators to represent all corners of the local business events ecosystem. The leadership refresh comes as the industry balances high operational costs and rapid technological change against Singapore’s long-term tourism growth ambitions leading toward 2040.

The new Exco will center its near-term strategy on the government’s ABC framework (Advocate, Bridge, Connect), which was highlighted by senior minister of state Low Yen Ling at the Trade Association and Chambers Summit 2026.

A primary challenge for the incoming team is combating rising costs, which continue to place financial pressure on event organisers and industry stakeholders. SACEOS noted that Singapore must actively shift its focus to compete on high-value delivery rather than price. Concurrently, the association plans to leverage Singapore’s reputation as a safe, neutral, and trusted hub to anchor major international events amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics.

On the technology front, the committee is addressing the rapid rise of artificial intelligence in event planning and delivery. While AI will be utilised to drive back-end efficiency and optimise attendee experiences, SACEOS emphasises that the technology ultimately reinforces rather than replaces the core importance of human connection.

“While technology will continue to enhance efficiency and attendee experiences, it also reinforces the enduring importance of face-to-face engagement, relationship-building, and knowledge exchange,” said Ireland.

“This makes continuous upskilling, workforce development, and talent cultivation more important than ever.”

To manage this digital and economic transition, the EXCO will focus heavily on continuous workforce upskilling and deepening partnerships with higher learning institutions to build a resilient local talent pipeline.
