The New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) has become the first business events venue in the country to enrol staff in Te Haeata, committing 20 employees to the New Zealand Certificate in Business Events (Level 4).
Delivered by Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) and supported by ServiceIQ, the qualification combines online learning with workplace assessments. ServiceIQ will provide ongoing guidance alongside workplace visits every six weeks. Participants from NZICC’s event operations, sales and marketing, and event planning teams will complete the programme during 2026 without taking time away from their day-to-day roles.

“For NZICC, this is about creating opportunities for our people to grow, progress, and build long-term careers in business events,” said Prue Daly, general manager at NZICC. “By including employees from event operations, sales and marketing, and event planning, NZICC is investing in capability across the entire event journey.”
BEIA chief executive Lisa Hopkins noted that NZICC’s participation sets a new standard for workforce development in Aotearoa’s events sector. The programme aims to strengthen retention, build practical skills, and establish clear leadership pathways across the industry.
