The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Messe Berlin have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the German trade fair organiser’s presence in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The agreement, signed during InnoTrans Berlin 2026, supports Singapore’s Tourism 2040 goal to triple its business events tourism receipts.

The MoU builds on an 18-year partnership that began with the launch of ITB Asia in Singapore in 2008. Under the new agreement, both organisations will collaborate across four key areas: business development, digitalisation and sustainability, talent development, and experience development.

Messe Berlin currently organises four events in Singapore: ITB Asia, MICE Show Asia, Travel Tech Asia, and Smart Health Asia. The company’s regional portfolio will grow to seven events in 2027 with the launch of the inaugural Asian editions of InnoTrans Asia, CMS Asia, and Smart Pharma Asia. To support this growth, Messe Berlin’s Singapore-based team, which has nearly tripled over the past decade, will continue to expand.

“Singapore has been Messe Berlin’s home in Asia Pacific for almost two decades,” said Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin. “This strategic partnership reflects our long-term confidence in Singapore as a key regional hub and our shared ambition to create globally recognised business event brands across Asia Pacific.”

STB’s chief executive Melissa Ow added that the board remains committed to supporting Messe Berlin’s regional expansion as part of Singapore’s strategy to anchor itself as a global business and innovation hub.
